One of Los Angeles’ most sought-after musical performers for corporate and entertainment industry events, charity galas, weddings, and private parties, Jeremy Weinglass is an award-winning, classically trained pianist who connects deeply with his audience, inspiring emotion and creative energy with soul-piercing intensity. Performing professionally since the age of 12, Jeremy evokes a melodic modern classical style that makes him instantly recognizable.
Jeremy possesses a true talent and passion for music composition for piano, as well as a range of orchestral instruments. He maintains a wide-ranging repertoire of original music, classical, jazz, standards, musicals, pop, and rock, while keeping current with the latest hits. While he most often performs as a solo artist, his expertise with diverse musical styles has led him to be in demand as a pianist to accompany other musicians, singers, and performers.
“Jeremy is outstanding! I absolutely loved how I could totally rely on him to play brilliantly, accurately and with passion; to always be reliable, on time and engaged; and to always be easy to work with and incredibly warm and friendly. He is a true gem in the music industry and a MUST HIRE for any singer needing a pianist who is fabulous, versatile and creative.”
– Cindy Ashton, singer/entertainer
Jeremy’s musical talents and dedication were identified early on as a young child. At the age of six, he received a scholarship to begin his musical studies at The Nueva School, a small private school for gifted children. The son of a single mom, Jeremy would not have been able to attend the prestigious school without a scholarship. He was also fortunate to receive further guidance and mentoring through Big Brothers Big Sisters. (More about Jeremy’s story and experience with Big Brothers Big Sisters can be read on his blog.)
Jeremy became an original member of the San Francisco Bay Area’s Ragazzi Boys’ Chorus and attended advanced piano and theory classes at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music. During his middle and high school years, Jeremy played piano with jazz bands, accompanied choirs, and performed in school musical productions. It was during this time Jeremy studied with Thomas La Ratta, former music director at Notre Dame de Namur University, whom he considers his most influential teacher. Jeremy attended Notre Dame for a year after high school to study piano performance before earning a bachelor’s degree in Music Composition at UC Santa Barbara, where he gained experience in vocal and music direction of musical productions, as well as creating a course to teach students his original compositions for performance by the UCSB orchestra for his senior recital.
Since moving to Los Angeles in 2001, Jeremy has made a name for himself as the premier pianist for weddings and events, as well as restaurants, hotels, and shopping malls throughout the Greater Los Angeles Area. His talents have garnered attention from the entertainment industry and have earned him awards in 2005 as Instrumentalist of the Year by LA Music Awards and in 2009 by pianist/composer David Lanz. He has performed and collaborated with Funkadelic rockstar Kim Manning, accomplished songwriter Dan Rockett (writer of “Dance With Me” recorded by Kelly Clarkson), classical/pop singer Erin Carere, soulful singer/songwriter Sophie Ilys, violinist Leah Zeger, bassist Gordon Bash, singer and entertainer Cindy Ashton, Bulgarian singer Krassimir, and folk-hop duo I,Star, to name a few. From 2002-08, Jeremy toured the world as the keyboardist with Ballentine, including eight USO tours and numerous large music festivals, as well as performing in virtually every nightclub in Los Angeles. In 2007, he toured the United States and Canada playing keyboards with Englebert Humperdinck. Jeremy helped start The Paula Franceschi Band, serving as band leader and keyboardist from 2009-10. In 2011, he was the featured pianist for a wedding ceremony on David Tutera’s My Fair Wedding on the WE Network. Since 2005, Jeremy has frequently enjoyed playing at Agape International Spiritual Center in Culver City.
“I have met and listened to many young up-and-coming contemporary pianists, but Jeremy Weinglass really stands out! Not only as a dynamic performer but, as an important new voice in original piano composition. Jeremy is a talent to be reckoned with!”
– David Lanz, pianist and composer
Jeremy’s solo piano album, “Dreams,” released in 2005, features the best of his original music spanning a 10-year period. In 2008, he ambitiously recorded eight solo piano albums in just three days, which feature some of the best of his repertoire across different genres of music: “Classical Masterpieces,” “Christmas,” “Love Ballads,” “Jazz Hits,” “Rock Classics,” “Musical Show-Stoppers,” “Pop Favorites” and “Timeless Inspirations.”
In 2010, Jeremy composed “The Divine Within” for a dear friend and fan, Mason, for his 15th birthday; the song was released as a single a year later. In honor of the inspiration that Mason provided for the song, Jeremy donates 50% of the proceeds from “The Divine Within” to Mason’s charity of choice, Wheels for Humanity, a wonderful organization that provides wheelchairs to people in need all over the world. More about this story can be read on Jeremy’s blog. “The Divine Within” was nominated for best contemporary classical song by Hollywood Music in Media Awards in 2014.
Also in 2010, Jeremy released “Odyssey: A Twelve-Month Revolution” featuring violinist Chris Woods (“American Idol,” “The Voice”), whom he met while performing at Agape International Spiritual Center. “Odyssey” ties together the natural moods of the year through a 12-part musical journey in all 12 keys.
Jeremy’s latest full-length album, “Choose Love,” includes material from his 24 years of composing. The 17 solo piano tracks include the first song he wrote when he was 11 through his most recent composition that he wrote for his young daughter. Each composition was inspired by significant people or events in his life and evolve as his sources of inspiration have evolved. Recorded at Sony Pictures Scoring Stage in 2013, the self-released album was fan-funded through a successful IndieGogo campaign and ranked on the Top 100 Radio Airplay Chart of Zone Music Reporter for January-August in 2014.
In 2014, his creative endeavor was to record his song “Choose Love” the way he had originally envisioned it. He spent the year working with producer Andres “Pookie” Jamerson to record the song utilizing the talents of many artists and musicians with whom he had worked throughout his career. “Choose Love” was released as a single in April 2015 and received recognition by the Akademia Music Awards, winning best song in the Gospel/R&B category in July 2015.
“Working with Jeremy on his “Odyssey” has been one of the highlights of my producing career. Arranged for piano and violin (expertly performed by Chris Woods), “Odyssey” takes the listener on a 12-month cycle that is infused with lyricism and inspiration. Contemporary romantic piano music has never been more relevant and touching than in the way Jeremy successfully blends musical flavors evocative of the classics while weaving together modern flavors into an absolutely timeless canvas that connects with our deepest sensibilities. Jeremy, while still young, follows in the footsteps of some of the great romantic composers of the 19th and 20th century. His music is self assured yet unpretentious, powerful yet never bombastic, intricate yet always tasteful. Foremost it is always inspired and sincere.”
– David Bergeaud, composer and producer (producer of “Odyssey”)
Striving to expand ways of sharing his music with the world while making a positive impact, Jeremy was inspired to create an original music and dance production that brought the story of “Odyssey” to life. He assembled an accomplished team to realize this vision, including choreographer and modern dancer Michelle “Star” LaVon and director Stephen Hues. Performed in 2011 to a sold-out 360-person audience at the El Portal Theatre in North Hollywood, the production showcased Jeremy as an artist of many talents with a broad vision. Jeremy donated 100% of net ticket sales to Big Brothers Big Sisters of Los Angeles.
In 2013, in an effort to improve his speaking ability on stage and to expand his potential as a performer, Jeremy joined Toastmasters. He hit the ground running and competed in the 2014 International Speech Contest with his speech “Standing Tall.” Competing again in 2015, he earned the title Area Contest Champion 2015 with his speech “Melody of Life” about becoming a father to his baby girl, Melody. He is currently a member of two Toastmaster clubs: Motivated Toastmasters and Warner Center. Jeremy is a also founding member of Captivating Accredited Speakers Association, through which he trains both elementary and high school kids in public speaking while simultaneously boosting their self-confidence.
Complementing his zest for life and involvement in his community, Jeremy enjoys a rewarding life with his wife and manager, Kim. The dynamic force behind Jeremy and Weinglass Music, Kim fuels Jeremy’s passion and inspires his creativity. They fill their life with music, contribution, adventurous travel, pursuits in personal growth, and in December 2013, they became ecstatic parents of a beautiful girl named Melody.
